slow and steady.

the problem with our world is that we keep dashing head-on into everything, not wanting to lose out on anything. but energy is limited. we tire, lose drive, lose motivation and feel lousy about ourselves because we just can't keep up. one needs to keep pace when running, especially long distances, life's not about a short sprint, it's a long drawn race. it's kind of similar to circuit training, you jog a little then sprint and switch back to jogging pace and then sprint again, with various exercises in between. after awhile, your endurance builds up. darn, i miss those fit days.

that being said, there must be something about the 2.4 runs that we do because there have just been too many collapse cases. and each time, my heart still sinks. to lose another fellow human, is one of the saddest things in the world and it doesn't matter whether you know them personally or not. in this race of life, it's not about coming in first, rather it's about finishing the race with as many people who began it with you. at the end of the day, we'll all be winners in our own special way.

so i'm gonna pace myself and not be disheartened,
by the hares who dash past the tortoise in me.
