I like thinkers. They make me think. And I applaud their ability to plot. But I love doers even more. They inspire me to action. And it’s the plodders, not the plotters, who make things happen."
in an era where we're taught it's okay to dream big because that's what will carry you through life, the above quote by Mark Batterson encapsulates it perfectly. it's one thing to dream big but it's another to actually make it big. many people try, and many people fail, but the people who fail and fail and try again until they succeed are the ones we read of now and then. we read of young entrepreneurs who taste the sweetness of success at the age of 25, and inevitably think, "hey this could be me! man, what am i doing with my life". but it's important to note that it took the bitterness of hardship, the saltiness of sweat and tears, and the sourness of envy each time they fell and looked up at successful predecessors, before they reached the taste of sweet.
of course, there's also the saying that "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail". so you actually need to plot before you plod, lest you end up in the brambles of no man's land.
it frustrates me when people have amazing-sounding ideas but don't even budge to act on them. i'm not talking about those who fail at execution, i'm talking about those who don't even try. what is the point of talking big when it doesn't come to fruition. false hope irks me terribly and is one of my top pet peeves because it takes me up the high mountain of expectations only to cruelly fling me down. if you don't intend to plod then don't talk to me about your plot.
"don't talk, just act.
don't say, just show.
don't promise, just prove."
